Mount Rushmore National Memorial, South Dakota

After spending great time in Ten Sleep in Wyoming, we drove 260 miles to east on I-90 and arrived Rapid City in South Dakota. The purpose of visiting this area is Mount Rushmore National Memorial, where you can see a magnificent sculpture carved into the granite face of the mountain, 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level. It features 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of four United States presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

This area is also known as a good climbing spot among climbers and you can climb right behind the sculptures! We did some sport climbing there.
